Grants for Charging Infrastructure in Housing Cooperatives, Garage Associations, and Housing Associations - Akershus County Council
Posted by KAROLINE OLSEN

Akershus County Municipality has once again issued a call for applications for support for charging infrastructure for electric cars in housing cooperatives, condominiums, and garage associations. There is no application deadline. Applications will be processed on an ongoing basis until the funds are distributed. The scheme has a budget of 5 million kroner and will close when the funds have been allocated.
The support scheme aims to cover costs related to upgrading the electrical infrastructure in residential companies' parking facilities and/or costs for external consulting and planning for upgrading charging infrastructure.
Who can apply?
- Housing cooperatives, condominiums, and garage associations can apply for grants under this scheme.
Private individuals, state-owned building owners, municipal entities, companies that lease out parking spaces, and buildings under construction cannot apply for grants.
About the scheme
The support scheme finances the development of electrical infrastructure that enables charging in the residential company's parking spaces. Grants are not provided for the charging point itself at individual parking spaces.
Charging systems that receive support must have a smart power management system. This must be evident in the supplier's offer.
Grants can also be applied for consulting and planning projects for upgrading charging infrastructure.
- Grants are provided for up to 20 percent of the costs for developing electrical infrastructure that enables charging in the residential company's parking spaces and installing a smart power management system, limited to a maximum of 10,000 kroner per charging point facilitated.
- Grants are provided for up to 50 percent of the costs for external consulting and planning.
- The maximum grant amount per housing cooperative or condominium is 500,000 kroner for the development of electrical infrastructure and a smart power management system.
- The project can also be financed by other public entities, for example, the municipality. The total proportion of public financing cannot exceed 50 percent.
The grant should have a stimulating effect on the implementation of the measure and works. Support must be applied for before materials and services are ordered, or an agreement is entered into with a supplier.
Only fixed installations owned by the housing cooperative, condominium, or garage association itself can receive support.
Electrical work must be confirmed as carried out by an authorized installer.
The grant scheme does not cover
- The charging point itself at each parking space.
- Upgrading of substations. In many cases, it will be possible to install control tools that make substation upgrading unnecessary. This is covered by the grant scheme.
- Investments and developments already commenced.
