Industrial plugs and sockets, known as IEC 60309 (formerly IEC 309 or CEE), are the international standard for heavy-duty electrical connectors, rated up to 1000 V, 800 A and 500 Hz. These, often called "pin & sleeve" or "CeeForm" connectors, use colour-coded, robust circular housings with earth pins positioned at specific clock positions to prevent voltage mismatch.
