Subsidy for charging infrastructure in condominiums and housing associations — Viken county municipality
Posted by ELBILGROSSISTEN

Viken County Council has established a support scheme for charging infrastructure in condominiums and housing associations. There is an ongoing application deadline.
The subsidy scheme is one of the measures to strengthen business and social life in Viken as a result of the corona crisis. This has now been discontinued.
About the scheme
Viken County Municipality has established a support scheme for charging infrastructure in condominiums and housing associations. The purpose is to help more people have the opportunity to charge electric cars at home. The support scheme will help cover costs associated with upgrading the electrical infrastructure in the housing associations' parking facilities.
The subsidy scheme was adopted by the Viken County Council on March 26, 2019. NOK 3 million has been allocated to the scheme in 2020. Additional funding will be considered depending on demand.
Who can apply?
- Housing associations, condominiums and garage associations associated with these can apply for support.
- Private individuals, state building owners, municipal actors and companies that rent out parking spaces cannot apply for grants.
- Buildings under construction cannot apply for grants.
Award criteria
- The support scheme finances the development of the electrical infrastructure that enables charging in the housing company's parking spaces. No subsidy is given for the charging point itself in the individual parking space. A price quote from the supplier must be attached to the application, stating the costs of the charging infrastructure.
- The grant must have a triggering effect for the implementation of the measure and the work must therefore not be started before a grant commitment has been made.
- Only permanent installations that the housing cooperative or condominium itself owns can be supported.
- The scheme does not cover upgrading of transformer stations. In many cases it will be possible to install control tools that make upgrading of transformers unnecessary and this is covered by the subsidy scheme.
- Electrical work must be confirmed to have been carried out by an authorized installer.
- The subsidy can amount to a maximum of 20 percent of approved investment costs, and is limited to NOK 5,000 per charging point provided. The maximum subsidy amount per housing association or condominium is NOK 250,000.
- The project may also be financed by other public actors, e.g. the municipality. The total share of public financing may not exceed 50 percent.
- If there is a need for an investigation of the electrical system, an external consultant can be contacted before applying for a grant. Costs for external consultancy and design can be included in eligible costs up to NOK 10,000. The consultancy must be independent of the supplier.
- NB! You must apply for and be granted support before ordering materials and services, or entering into an agreement with a supplier.
