The universal home charging station
The Easee ONE charging box is a small, lightweight, and smart charging station, yet powerful enough to charge your car quickly as it supports up to 7.4 kW. The charging box is intelligent and adapts to all electric vehicles, supports all current strengths (6-32A), and all power grids (IT/TN).

The charging box is equipped with one Type 2 connector/outlet, allowing all types of plug-in vehicles to charge from the station with the correct charging cable.


Intelligent Safety


Easee is passionate about safety and has therefore built in a number of temperature sensors on both incoming terminals, outgoing contacts, and on the PCB board itself, which alert for overheating.

Automatic self-test

The charging box has an integrated residual current device (RCD) that performs self-tests between each charging session, and at least once every 24-hour period. The charging station has more than 40 sensors that continuously monitor changes in current strength, voltage, temperature, humidity — all to ensure safe charging. The built-in protection is also automatically reset each time the charging cable is disconnected from the charging station. This reduces downtime and the need for support and maintenance. The charging station automatically restarts after a power outage.

Automatic detection of incorrect wiring

The charging box always automatically checks the wiring after installation and notifies the electrician if a mistake has been made. Information and help are also provided via the Easee Installer App. This ensures that you can be confident that the charging box is installed correctly and is safe to use.

Notification of critical errors

Should a critical error occur, the charging box will enter a safety mode and inform you with a red light, a notification in the Easee app, and an alarm signal if necessary.

No internal power cables

The Easee charging box has no messy internal cables compared to traditional charging boxes. This reduces the risk of human error during assembly and production.

Always updated charging box

The charging station automatically connects to the cloud solution and is continuously updated with the latest functionality via over-the-air (OTA) software updates. This means you have purchased a secure and future-proof product. 4G/LTE is included in the purchase price.

Angled and self-draining connector

The connector is angled 45 degrees so that the charging cable protrudes less from the wall. This reduces the risk of external damage, and the connector is self-draining.

Reliable local control with Bluetooth®

With new Bluetooth functionality, you can control and monitor your charger locally, without relying on cloud services or an internet connection. Cloud services will be available via subscription.


Future-proof — easy installation and scalable

The Easee ONE charging system allows you to have multiple charging boxes as communication between the charging boxes is wireless. Mounting multiple charging boxes in an existing installation is done by connecting them in series via the first charging box. This saves installation costs and makes it look neater.

Configuration

With the Easee Installer app, it's quick to configure the charging box by programming the backplate via the NFC chip or via Bluetooth.


Dynamic load balancing


Easee ONE utilizes the available electrical capacity to the fullest with dynamic load balancing across all charging stations, ensuring you always get maximum charging. Load balancing supports up to 3 units per "installation" and will work offline. Load balancing optimizes available power for charging and:

  • Monitors the charging system's available charging current (requires Easee Equalizer)
  • Ensures that available charging current is distributed and used equally
  • Does not overload circuits or set limits
  • Balances power between charging stations


Load balancing occurs using proprietary wireless technology that does not require additional infrastructure (cabling), cloud connection, or internet. This assumes coverage between the charging box and Equalizer.


The first charging station configured becomes the master/primary unit in the system. The other units (secondary) communicate with the master unit, so that available capacity can be automatically distributed among all connected units.

The charging boxes have a soft start to charging, which ensures that the power circuit is not overloaded at the start of charging, thus preventing fuses from blowing due to high and short current pulses.


Smart Charging

New Advanced Metering and Control Systems (AMS), also called AMS smart meters, mean that in the future we will pay for electricity billed hourly. Easee Charge UP is smart and gives you the opportunity to charge your car(s) when electricity is cheapest, while always ensuring a fully charged car for departure. Likewise, smart charging can easily be overridden to start charging immediately if you need to use the car in a couple of hours. You can easily switch between smart and fast charging in the app or by touching the touch sensor on the charging box.

Charging with solar energy

If you pair your Easee charging box with an Easee Equalizer, you can charge your car with clean and renewable energy. Either without power from the grid or a combination of both, while balancing energy supply and demand in the power grid.

The charging box is very small and light and thrives equally well on the outside of the building as inside a garage. Developed to withstand the Norwegian climate with changing weather conditions and is IP54 certified.

User access

You can activate access control on Easee ONE so that it must be activated via NFC/RFID or the Easee app. This prevents unauthorized persons from charging at your charging station(s).

Measuring power consumption

A built-in power meter in each charging station gives you control and an overview of power consumption via the app or the cloud service Easee Cloud. You can easily create consumption reports for each user or charging station. This means you can easily have multiple users on one charging station and still distribute electricity costs fairly.
 

Application

The charging station comes with an app that makes it easy to monitor consumption, lock and unlock the charging cable, and schedule charging times. More features will be added over time, so you always have full control over your Easee charging station. The app can be found on the App Store or Google Play.

Questions and Answers



Installation

Is it safe to have the cable entry at the top of the charging robot and can it be left outside?
Yes, the product is designed for cable entry from the top, as allowance has been made for water ingress if the seals do not fully seal against the cable.

Will other pre-connected protection devices affect the functionality of the charging station?
No, it is recommended that an external type A earth leakage circuit breaker is installed on the charging circuit in accordance with current regulations. The protection device in the charger will not be affected by or affect the function of other external protection devices.
There is no technical problem with a pre-connected type B earth leakage circuit breaker. The only thing that could theoretically happen is that the type B device in the cabinet could trip before the device in the charger.
The built-in protection device in the charger is electronic and switches off the power to the electric car if it measures a DC leakage current of 4-6mA and/or an AC leakage current of 20-30mA.
This should therefore provide a certain selectivity in the system, so that a potential external type A device would not normally trip in the event of an earth fault (AC and/or DC). The electronic protection device in the charger is easily reset by plugging the charging cable in and out of the electric car's charging socket.


Access control, availability and security

Can I lock my charging robot so that it is inaccessible to others?
Yes, via the app or the cloud solution Easee.cloud

Can I permanently lock the Type 2 cable in my charging robot?
Yes, this is done via the app (Bluetooth / WiFi / 4G) or the cloud solution.

I can't remove my charging cable. What can I do?
Push/press the plug in, then press the touch button for 2-3 seconds. Alternatively, you can close/open the lock via the user menu (hold down the touch button for 5 seconds until you hear an acknowledgment tone to activate this).


Load Balancing

Can the charging robot dynamically load balance with my house so that I avoid tripping my main fuse?
Yes, but this requires external hardware connected to your electricity meter - Easee Equalizer.
